Visual Manifestos: Beyond the Page, Into Space is an exhibition exploring the intersection of typography, editorial design, and spatial storytelling. Visual Manifestos challenges conventional boundaries, transforming letters into architectural elements, protest symbols, and poetic expressions. Created as a collaborative final project by second-year Visual Communication students, this exhibition emerges from the synergy between Typography I, led by Dr. Hala Georges (Assistant Professor of Visual Communication), and Visual Communication Studio I, led by Ahmad Manar Laham (Lecturer in Visual Communication). It showcases students’ innovative explorations of type in space, from installations and posters to editorial compositions. Key themes in the exhibition include Typography as Protest (How fonts act as cultural, political, personal, or social statements), and Typography as Experience (Expanding words into physical and interactive formats through installation, poster and publication design). Dr. Georges noted that “Through this exhibition, typography steps beyond the page and into space, inviting viewers to engage with language as a physical and dynamic presence.”
