Origins of Form
From Imperial Aramaic to Contemporary
Arabic and English Letterforms
This project reimagines the Imperial Aramaic script, developed around the 10th century BCE, into modern Arabic and English letterforms. Drawing from Aramaic’s historical role as a foundation for later scripts, two new alphabets — Aramiyya and AngloAramaic — were created through historical research and experimental design. The work bridges ancient traditions with contemporary typography, honoring the legacy of one of the world’s oldest writing systems.
