Dr. Hala Morris Georges is an accomplished designer and researcher with extensive experience in academia and industry. She holds a Ph.D. in Creative Arts from the University of Brighton and a Master’s in Graphic Design from the University for the Creative Arts. Her contributions to the field are reflected in her publications in esteemed journals such as The International Journal of Education Through Art. She has also served on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Literature and Arts and has been a Fellow at the British Higher Education Academy since 2018.
Dr. Georges’ artistic work has been showcased internationally in countries including the USA, Spain, Portugal, Germany, the UK, Italy, Canada, Japan, and the UAE. Since 2007, she has been teaching at leading universities across Europe, the UK, and the Middle East, holding leadership positions at SintLucas College in the Netherlands and the University of Northampton in the UK. Her dedication to mentorship is evident in her students’ successes, with several earning prestigious awards, including top honors at the International Creative Conscience Awards in both 2023 and 2024.
Currently working as an Assistant Professor in Visual Communication at the University of Sharjah, Dr. Georges is also the founder of the @Arabic_graphicdesign platform, which explores and reflects contemporary trends in Arabic design and culture. Her recent projects emphasize the intersection of Arabic typography and multilingual design, as exemplified by her "Seoul Speaks Arabic" initiative in South Korea and her participation in the Venice Biennale in October 2024. Her work continues to push the boundaries of cultural and artistic dialogue on a global stage.
